The Role of ASEAN in the Greater Eurasian Partnership: Issues and Challenges

The project of the Greater Eurasian Partnership (GEP) was proposed by Russia in 2016. The main objective of this initiative is to enhance political and economic partnership between countries of Eurasian continent based on the principle of non-interference and multipolarity. The GEP project has been widely discussed in academic and political community, but the potential role of ASEAN in this initiative remains understudied. This paper will focus on the potential of ASEAN participation in the Greater Eurasian Partnership and point out problems and challenges which this collaboration may face.
