Gender Differences in Hiring

Job applicants are still treated differently depending on their sex, other things being equal. An experiment was conducted to show that in Russia the chances of getting employed for a male and a female applicant are not equal (net discrimination rate is 31%) even if they have the same skills and qualifications. We also analyze which companies depending on their size, industry, type of ownership, etc. have the tendency to discriminate people against their gender. As a result, this study allows us to reveal the level of gender discrimination in Russian labor market and factors that stimulate it.
