This reasearch aims to study the shipbuilding industry of the Republic of Korea at the present stage in the context of global competition. The purpose of this work is to study the state of modern Korean shipbuilding and its impact on the development of the country's economy. The historical background of the South Korean shipbuilding industry was revealed, and an analysis of the world market in this area was carried out. On the basis of the SWOT and PEST analyzes, the competitiveness of the industry in the modern global market is analyzed, and South Korea’s main competitor in shipbuilding is determined. It also determines the contribution of this sector to the country's economy and considers further scenarios for the development of the sector in the future.
