The topic of the work was “Assessment of risk of energy production and use based on renewable sources”. In recent years, there has been a global trend towards the active development of energy production based on renewable sources. The Russian Federation, which has great natural potential, is also trying to actively support global trends of the development of renewable energy in its territory. With the increased needs and desire to invest in this area, one of the most important issues for investors becomes relevant. What are the risks of implementing projects in the field of renewable energy in the Russian Federation? The relevance of this study is due to this issue. The purpose of my work is to assess and analyze risks of investment projects in the field of renewable energy, as well as to identify the most significant risks affecting the successful implementation of projects in this area. Based on the goal, a number of tasks were identified: study of theoretical literature and previous research in this area; study of the specifics of the work of the renewable energy market; identification of risks inherent in the industry, and specifically, the selected project; risk assessment of the considered investment project using the methodology stated in the work; analysis of the assessment results and the formulation of conclusions based on the study This work is logically divided into 3 parts. The first discusses the main theoretical aspects of risk and its assessment. The second part is devoted to the analysis of the renewable energy market and aspects of state support for this industry. The last chapter focuses on the practical aspect of risk assessment of a real project in the field of renewable energy, by developing its financial model and using simulation risk assessment tools.
