This final qualifying work is devoted to the composition of the jury. Despite the fact that the institution of jury trial is not yet sufficiently entrenched in the legal consciousness of citizens, the government of our country is taking measures to promote it. The composition of the jury is the perfect combination of legal and psychological research. Both lawyers and scholars in the field of social psychology are making efforts to improve the institution of jury trial. The jury has a long history. In this paper we study the Institute of jury trial in Russia and the world, which allows us to understand the legal nature of this institution, the mechanism of its work in the countries – the founders of this institution. Particular attention is paid to the quantitative composition of the jury and socio-psychological factors affecting the verdict: because the meeting of the jury is subject to both legal and socio-psychological laws. In order to identify the presence or absence of the influence of the quantitative composition of the jury on the content of the verdict and to establish the amount of group memory of different composition of the boards, a study was conducted, in which 3 gameplay was organized with the participation of jurors in the case of the so-called psychic (part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code). As a result, video materials were obtained that captured the meetings of jurors about the verdicts. A total of 26 people of different ages, educational level, social status and place of residence took part in the study. The results showed that the jury, considering the greater amount of evidence, ceteris paribus endure more informed and reasonable judgment, than of the College in which jurors remembered the small amount of evidence presented in the trial.
