Russian Presence in the Asian-Pasific LNG Market: Political Prospects

This study is devoted to considering the prospects for the promotion of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the energy market of the Asia-Pacific Region. Possible political prospects for the promotion of Russian gas in this direction are being studied, the reasons for a turn in this direction are being identified, an analysis of the energy markets of Japan, China and South Korea is given. The study provides the energy strategies of competing countries: the USA, Canada, and Russia. The factor of the “shale revolution” and its influence on the evolution of the regional market (in particular, the pricing formula) are considered separately.
