The Evolution of Russian Policy in Syria from 2011 to 2018

In 2011 Syrian conflict started as a reaction on Arab spring. However, today it is more than a regional conflict including a variety of state and non-state actors from all over the world. The purpose of this research is to identify specific features of Russian policy in Syria at the current stage and show the evolution of the instruments Russia uses in this protracted crisis. According to the author, some elements of Russian policy in Syria are close to Russian approaches to Tajikistan crisis in the 1990s. Key words: Middle East, international security, Syrian war, Russian foreign policy.
