The Impact of Sanctions on International Investment in the Russian Oil and Gas Complex

This research paper examined the impact of sanctions on foreign investment in the oil and gas complex of Russia. Knowledge of the impact of Western sanctions on attracting foreign investment in the oil and gas sector of Russia is important for the future development of the industry. The purpose of this research work is to identify the impact of the sanctions policy of the West against the Russian Federation since 2014 on the inflow of foreign investment in the Russian oil and gas complex. The paper discusses the peculiarities of the Western sanctions policy against the Russian Federation since 2014; considered the dynamics of foreign investment in the oil and gas complex of Russia at the present stage; government regulation of the oil and gas complex of Russia was considered in the context of sanctions; empirical studies have been conducted to identify factors affecting the attraction of foreign investment in the oil and gas complex of Russia; recommendations were given to Russian and foreign companies on raising capital in Russian oil and gas projects. The results of the study can be used by authorities and domestic and foreign representatives of companies when planning investments in oil and gas projects in the territory of the Russian Federation.
