This paper is focused on evaluation and enhancement of Saint-Petersburg metro system efficiency. The relevance of the study is determined by the overload of the St. Petersburg metro with increasing passenger traffic and slow pace of metro network development. The object of the study is "Lesnaya" metro station, considered as a queuing system. The subject of research is the effectiveness of its functioning. Efficiency evaluation was performed by using the method of simulation modeling. Based on the variation of the train intervals, the density of the pedestrian flow, selected as the main performance indicator of the metro as a queuing system, was estimated in the busiest area of the station, which was also determined by conducting simple experiments with varying train intervals. According to the results of the experiments, it was found that the average density of the pedestrian flow is less, the longer the train intervals. However, this dependence has a negative effect on other areas of the station load, such as platforms and trains. It was determined that for an integrated efficiency increase it is necessary to carry out multi-criteria optimization. Key words: city logistics, urban transport system, metro system, queuing system, simulation modeling.
