The ERP system implementation project requires significant investments and affects almost every employee and every process in the organization. The share of projects that meet the criteria for success and meet initial expectations is very small. An empirical study has been conducted using such methods as case studу, interview and questionnaire to identify the success factors of a SAP implementation project in a Russian enterprise that is part of a large transnational corporation in FMCG sector. Quantitative research is presented as a regression analysis of data for several elements of a project’s success. It was confirmed that the organizational change management is an essential component of the management of an implementation project. A critical factor of the project success is the earliest involvement of key users in the period of preparation for the launch of the system, their correct selection and quantity. Such factors as management support, development of high-quality training materials, as well as stability of the system have the greatest impact on the perception of the project success by employees. The recommendations developed from the research results can help managers of such projects to better understand critical success factors, anticipate possible obstacles in order to more effectively allocate resources and increase the likelihood of success of an ERP system implementation project.
