This paper is devoted to the analysis of internal and external issues of environmental policy of France after presidential elections of 2017. Special attention was paid to the study of the "green" movement, the peculiarities of the French energy sector, as well as the public reaction to the ongoing reforms in the field of environmental protection (particularly, the "yellow vests" movement). The author has identified the prospects for the development of France's environmental policy in the international arena in the context of the difficulties that exist at the national level.
