With the development of the globalization process and the accession of countries to international trade, the issue of ensuring the country's logistical export activities becomes extremely urgent. The purpose of this study is to identify opportunities for improving the efficiency of Russian export logistics for the further growth of foreign economic activity. Significant role in the development of Russian logistics of exports is played by sea ports, since they are transport hubs connecting all types of transport for foreign economic activity. At the same time, the private sector is becoming increasingly important, on the one hand, due to a lack of public investment, and on the other, due to the development of competition and, as a result, the quality of services provided. In such conditions, the supply of terminal services in the ports of Russia by private companies is growing. It is revealed that this sector provides great potential for increasing the efficiency of export activities. One of the effective ways to improve the performance of export activities can be considered value added services (VALS), since this method increases competitiveness and optimizes supply chains. The study analyzed a company operating in the market of wagon operators and terminal services, identified problems in the terminal services sector, and developed and evaluated the cost-effectiveness of value-added services. As a result it was found that the project improves the efficiency of the company and is economically successful. Due to the specificity of the method of developing VALS services, there are limitations to extrapolate the findings to industry companies. However, the methodology for introducing these services can be applied at the enterprises of the logistics sector in order to improve the efficiency of the country's export activities.
