Year of Graduation: 2019

The main purpose of the thesis is to identify the link between the characteristics of political regimes in Russian regions and voting patterns in 2007, 2011 and 2016 State Duma Elections. In order to do this, all regions of Russia were separated in clusters based on Authoritarianism, Patrimonialism and Dependency indices. Using the methods of pattern analysis, we analyzed results of 2007, 2011 and 2016 State Duma elections and identified eight distinct patterns of party support. After the link between regions' affiliation with clusters and patterns had been proofed statistically significant, the main determinants of voting patterns were formulated based on specific combinations of Authoritarianism, Patrimonialism and Dependency indices.
