Intellectual Capital and Development Strategy of Modern Company

The significance of the article is to identify the direct, visible connection between intellectual capital and development strategy on the example of the Russian industrial oil company Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC) Gazprom Neft. The purpose of the work is to understand how intellectual capital in the form of digitalization and its products influences the development strategy of the oil producing company PJSC Gazprom Neft. To achieve the goal of the work, various aspects were investigated using in-depth interviews among 12 company employees from 5 different departments. The work describes and assesses the impact of intellectual capital in the form of digitalization and its products on the oil company’s development strategy, as well as the current state of digitalization in Russian oil companies: the readiness of the Russian digital economy for large-scale digitalization, existing barriers, readiness to introduce digital technologies and products today industry market, and specifically in Gazprom Neft. As a result, it was revealed that digitalization has potential for development in the Russian oil industry and that it has a positive effect on Gazprom Neft’s long-term development strategy. This fact was noted by younger specialists aged 18 to 30 years and working in the company for no more than three years.
