Year of Graduation: 2019

As a designer, I wanted to move away from the author's (artistic) approach to their activities and increase the percentage of engineering and commercial thinking. To work so that the result of my work was closer to people who are not designers. Therefore, as a graduation project, I plan to make a utilitarian product with the appropriate use of design techniques. The goal is to get a thing that will be relevant for its time, which will be used by people and that will make life a little easier and will bring joy. And there was an idea of creation of the furniture designer. The project includes the manufacture of many parts of eco-friendly material (plywood/chipboard/cork), from which you can collect different pieces of furniture without the use of glue, hammer or screws. My experience with furniture is still small. Before developing the designer, I decided to study what "adult" furniture already exists and deserves attention. Thus, the theme of my visual research was "Amazing furniture". The purpose of my research is to fix and understand what parameters make furniture amazing and what ways people use for this purpose. By what means is achieved by novelty, surprise, uniqueness. There was a task: to collect and systematize on these pages different reasons for surprise which are given by furniture of the XX-XXI century, time of reconsideration of the saved-up experience and release from conventions and traditions. However, it is worth noting that "amazing furniture" — a conditional characteristic of furniture. Surprising people is not a priority for designers. Furniture is primarily a functional object, but its functions can be embodied in different forms, sometimes very expressive. It is important not to ignore the process of transformation of the function, and remove the disguise and try to explain why the furniture looks that way.
