As of late, park branding has become increasingly popular in major Russian cities. This trend is based on promoting parks recreation culture, which has long-standing and established traditions in Western countries. The visual research titled “Developing a visual image of parks” is a part the MSc graduation project “Identity of the Main Botanical Garden named after. N.V. Tsitsin.” The research is aimed at identifying main images and elements used in modern identity of parks and at establishing the connection of these images with their history, specificity and cultural characteristics. It shows the evolution of parks visual presentation from the moment of its creation to the present day and traces the contrast of modern and previously developed identities. The object of the graduation project is the Tsitsin Main Botanical Garden (MBG) that is not only one of the largest and most beautiful gardens in Europe, but also an important research and development center. However, at present, the Tsitsin Botanical Garden does not have a unified recognizable style. The project aims to express both the natural and scientific constituents of the MBG in the identity.
