The Images of the East in the Press and Media During the Perestroika Period

The research is devoted to representation of images of the East in the Soviet press and media resources available to the Soviet person during the "Perestroika" period (1985-1991). The research objective - to reveal the developed image of Asia created through the Soviet information space. Based on Alexey Yurchak's methodology, we studied such sources as: print media; Soviet almanacs; collections of exercises on East martial arts; Soviet and foreign movies. As a result it was succeeded to generalize an image of the Far East in representation of the Soviet person during the «Perestroika» period and to designate his further influence on the Soviet culture.
