The Effect of Decarbonization on Natural Gas Consumption in European Power Industry

The relevance of the chosen topic is determined by the processes of transformation of the energy market, the tendencies to large changes in the energy balance of using various resources for generating the electric power industry and it is very important to follow the trends and forecast the situation for the years ahead. The purpose of this paper is to assess the impact of the decarbonization policy on natural gas consumption in the European electric power industry. To achieve the goal formed the following tasks:  analyze decarbonization policies and trends in coal and atomic generation;  to build a predictive model of the dynamics of energy consumption in the EU;  estimate the share of natural gas in generation.
