The work reconstructs the image of the Italian military in the Soviet occupied territories on the basis of diaries and testimonies of Soviet citizens, as well as on the basis of documents used by the Italian authorities as propaganda. It is traced how the propaganda of the Italian authorities influenced the formation of the opinion of the Italian military about the campaign against the USSR, as well as what impact it had on Soviet citizens. The mechanisms of influence of Italians on the Soviet population during the occupation are revealed. The materials collected by the Extraordinary state Commission established to investigate acts of cruelty of the Nazi invaders are analyzed, as well as the literature and evidence demonstrating the positive attitude of Soviet citizens to the Italian military are analyzed.
