The master's thesis is based on an analysis of the trends in attracting foreign direct investment and mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector of the country studied - Russia. The current assessment of the state of the Russian banking sector, the identification of key trends in attracting foreign direct investment in the Russian banking sector and the study of key trends in the development of the mergers and acquisitions market in the Russian financial sector seem quite relevant. The object of the study is foreign direct investment and the mergers and acquisitions market in the financial sector. The subject of the research is the current state, key trends and prospects of FDI and the M&A market in the Russian banking sector. The structure of the thesis followed the logic of the research and consists of an introduction, three chapters of the main text, divided into eight paragraphs, a conclusion containing the key findings and suggestions, a list of references and eight appendices. The novelty of the study lies in the construction of an adequate trend model that allows to predict the dynamics of FDI in the banking sector with sufficient accuracy, taking into account seasonal variation.
