The image of Israel in the Arab media has traditionally been negative due to hostility towards a Jewish state in the Arab world since the creation of Israel in 1948. Most Arab countries still do not have diplomatic relations with Israel and do not recognize it as a state. Egypt became the first Arab state to establish diplomatic relations with Israel in 1979 when the Camp David Accords were signed; However, the Egyptian media, in general, remained fairly hostile to Israel, primarily due to pan-Arab solidarity. Anti-Western and anti-Israeli rhetoric reached its peak during the Egyptian Arab Spring, which led to the establishment of the Islamist government of Mohammed Morsi, which was overthrown a year later during a military coup. Such a dramatic shift led to changes in the image of Israel both in the state-owned and private-owned press. The purpose of this study is to analyze the changes, mentioned above, and to link them to certain political and social events inside the country.
