After the October Revolution, social, political and economic transformations took place in Russia. Former Russian nobles tried to adapt to new conditions, trying to find their place in Soviet society. However, the repeated socialization of this category of population was held back by a number of factors. First of all, the former nobles lost special rights and a significant part of real estate (land, manor), many of them were subjected to discrimination and repression. In addition, the repressive policies of the Soviet government and the negative attitude towards former nobles at the local level made the adjustment process much more difficult. At the same time, the need to adapt to new life realities forced the former members of the privileged class themselves to change, which was reflected both on the external level (for example, a change in life strategies) and on the internal (changes in self-consciousness). This paper analyzes the various ways in which members of the former aristocracy sought to respond to the challenges of an unfavorable social situation.
