Development and Research of a Reference Installation for Measuring the Characteristics of a Fiber-Optic Path with Single-Photon Radiation

Student: Lushpa Yana

Supervisor: Yury Zolotarevsky

Faculty: HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE)

Educational Programme: Electronic Engineering (Master)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2019

In this final qualifying work, an installation for measuring the transient response of the fiber path was developed. Additionally, a method was proposed for determining the quantum efficiency of single-photon radiation receivers using existing equipment. A single-photon source was also developed operating on the basis of the attenuation of pulsed radiation with a mathematical justification for the “one-photon” nature of that source. In the experimental part, a method for measuring the transmission characteristic of the fiber path with a preparatory study of the component parts of this installation was carried out.
