The Meaning of the “Russian idea” in the Works of F.M. Dostoevsky, Vl.S. Solovyov, N.A. Berdyaev

The purpose of the thesis, "The Meaning of the" Russian Idea" in the works of F. M. Dostoevsky, Vl. S. Solovyov and N. A. Berdyaev", was analyzing the development and meaning of the "Russian idea" in the works of the authors which are mentioned in the title. Therefore, the author refers directly to the original sources in order to find the definition of the concept she is researching in them. In the first chapter, the author tries to trace the history of the formation of the “Russian idea”. She highlights the main stages of its birth from the idea of Philotheus “Moscow is the third Rome” to the views of Berdyaev. She also highlights the main features of the “Russian idea”, which set it apart from other national ideas. The second chapter contains an analysis of how Dostoevsky understands the “Russian idea”. The author refers directly to the original sources, the works “Writer's Diary” and “Pushkin Speech”, as well as the novels “The Teenager” and “The Karamazov Brothers”. The author analyzes Dostoevsky’s view of the destiny of Russia and its further fate and tries to trace the disclosure of the problematics of the “Russian idea” in Dostoevsky’s literary activity. In the third chapter, the author turns to the understanding of the “Russian idea” by Solovyov. He appeals to his philosophical works and highlights the main points of change in Solovyov’s views on the role of Russia in the overall historical process. It is also important for him to single out the meaning that Solovyov put into the concept of the “Russian idea”. In the last fourth chapter, the author turns to the understanding of the “Russian idea” by Berdyaev. He highlights the main points of how Berdyaev himself understood history and the “Russian idea” in it and tries to trace whether the concept of Solovyov passed the test of time and the tragic course of history. In conclusion, the author summarizes the results obtained in previous chapters and draws conclusions on the research topic.
