As part of this study, the problem of the ineffectiveness of the consociational model of democracy in Iraq was reviewed. The topicality of this problem lies within the fact that the political situation in the Middle East is very unstable and it is necessary to find effective mechanisms to solve the problem of political instability in deeply divided societies. The purpose of this work was to identify the causes of the ineffectiveness of the consociational model in Iraq. The work contains a consistent analysis of the institutional organization of consociational mechanisms and their implementation by political elites. In the result, the study has helped to identify factors that influence the inefficiency of the consociational model in solving the problem of political instability in Iraq.
