Year of Graduation: 2019

Logistics processes at the container terminal are regarded as the object of study, the subject is an increase of the efficiency of these processes. The terminal can be considered as a complex logistics system, which includes the appropriate technological elements that provide the required throughput capacity, such as railway freight front, storage area, etc. Each of abovementioned elements is determined by its own principles of the logistics processes organization, which is reflected in the features of the space-planning solution and the structure of the lifting and transport equipment fleet. Based on the principles of the theory of mass service, a simulation model was created with the subsequent experiments in order to evaluate an alternative scheme for organizing the intermediate storage area in terms of the structure of the lifting and transport equipment. Based on the analysis of the statistical data, the following conclusion was made: using the organization of temporary storage of containers with a rack and a frontal forklift, the queue for container acceptance can be reduced by 46%, compared to a stackstacker's handling scheme and storage in a stack. Based on this, we can argue that this scheme can provide a higher terminal capacity.
