This thesis explores a number of psychoanalytic theories and research methods aimed at understanding the dynamics of anxiety in organizations and social defense mechanisms that arise in organizations, especially at times of ambiguity and turbulence. The author puts particular emphasis on researching the peculiarities of such dynamics and defense mechanisms in organizations with narcissistic traits in their culture. In the practical section of her work, the author studies a specific financial organization with a narcissistic culture, exploring the dynamics of anxiety within said organization and the coping mechanisms that the company developed during the crisis period on the finance market. Key hypotheses verified in this paper are the following: 1) anxiety not contained on the executive level of an organization spreads out and engulfs the whole of it, including the employees 2) narcissistic organizations tend to employ the following defense mechanisms: denial, idealization, and devaluing.
