At the modern time employers of top companies exceedingly appreciate not only an excellent English knowledge, but also the competence to use it in the area of specialization, the skills to find creative solutions to problems, the ability to work in team. The sphere of Political Science is becoming more authoritative, that’s is why this field is selected. The purpose of the work is to understand and find out, if modern lessons of English for Specific Purposes at universities are effective in the formation of professional qualities or not. In the process of research, the method of analysis of educational literature for students was used. The outcomes include a conclusion about what tasks in the English lessons what professional competence develop. Also, the findings indicate that students should give more preference to English for Specific Purposes, than to General English.
