Medical biotechnology is now one of the most dynamically developing branches of science. This work is devoted to the study of the influence of medical biotechnologies on living standards. The research was based on the databases of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), World Bank, international trade statistics and statistics of national statistical agencies for 2015. The first chapter provides the basic definitions and concepts of medical biotechnology, explains the relevance of the topic, provides a classification and examples, reviews the literature on the topic. The second chapter describes the current situation and trends in the development and implementation of medical biotechnologies in the countries of the world, as well as the position of countries in terms of the standard of living of the population and their development prospects. The third chapter is devoted to a statistical analysis of the impact of medical biotechnologies on the standard of living using correlation, regression and cluster analysis. The analysis made it possible to divide the OECD countries into three groups according to the level of development and use of medical biotechnologies: the leading countries, ones which catch up with them by the level of country’s development and the “outsider” countries, which only begin to work on the development and implementation of medical biotechnologies. Countries are at different stages of the development and use of biotechnologies, and they face different goals, but most of them have already realized the importance of introducing and using biotechnologies in the field of medicine. The study confirms the growing trend of use and development in the field of medical biotechnology worldwide.
