Pragmatic markers are an integral part of spoken discourse. They are characterized by partial or complete loss of lexical or grammatical meaning. Unfortunately, these units still do not have a sufficiently systematized scientific description of their place and role in the speech of representatives of various social and gender groups. This research describes markers of hezitation, search and metacommunication, studied on the material of everyday and business speech situations of 24 informants. For this purpose, in the research paper are used theoretical and corpus base materials the ORD project (One Speech Day) – the largest resource for studying spontaneous speech, which is developed in St. Petersburg State University. The analysis was conducted at the lexical level of a subcorpora for two age groups (youth, adults) and two gender groups. Actual related studies and research articles are analyzed to obtain the relevant sample of methods to conduct this survey. As the key outcomes of the research, data that shed light on the differences between gender groups in the use of specific pragmatic markers will be presented. Moreover, data will show that there is a correlation between the speech situation and the vocabulary of pragmatic markers used by informants.
