Performance of Mergers and Acquisitions of High-Tech Companies in Developed Capital Markets During Various Merger Waves

The analysis of M&A performance in high-technology sectors is a highly relevant topic of research as the high-technology companies are the main driver of global M&A market during last 25 years. This study is focused on performance of mergers and acquisitions of high-tech companies in developed capital markets during various merger waves and presents the analysis for each wave. The research covers a period of 1993-2018 and includes 1062 deals, which was committed by high-technology companies. The results of the research demonstrate that performance of mergers and acquisitions of high-tech companies in developed capital markets are different during various merger waves. We also conclude that M&A performance is influenced by the size of the company target, deal size and method of payment.
