Specifics of Interaction between Mental Images and Functional Spatial Structure on the Example of Moscow Periphery

Student: Danilina Anna

Supervisor: Kirill Puzanov

Faculty: Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism

Educational Programme: Urban Development and Spatial Planning (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2019

Due to the growth of the largest cities of Russia, including Moscow, the role of the periphery in the urban structure increases every year. Along with the increase of the population and of the area of the city, the population density begins to spread to the city borders, which can also expand. As a result, sub-centers are being formed, filled with functional objects and social infrastructure. The work will show how the modern functional structure interacts with the mental component of the area. There will also be studied in detail that forms the basis of the determination of the subjective centrality for each person - his association from the past, a sense of native or all the same from what we have now - shops, cafes, movie theaters, which are filling almost every area of the city. All this will be revealed on the example of four districts of Moscow: Bibirevo, Severnoye Tushino, Zapadnoye Biryulyovo and Dmitrovsky.
