The Influence of the Ideas of Buddhism and Vedānta upon the Philosophy of A. Schopenhauer

This research paper presents a comparative analysis between Arthur Schopenhauer’s philosophy and Indian philosophy of liberation. We took for the comparison the main work of the German philosopher “The World as Will and Representation” as well as a number of philosophical and religious texts of Buddhism and Vedanta. The purpose of the comparison is to identify parallels between named philosophical conceptions, and to find out, has the Schopenhauer’s understanding of the Indian teachings of liberation been adequate?
