This paper examines the impact of mutual sanctions between Russia and the Western countries on the integration process in the Eurasian Economic Union. By analyzing official statistics, previous scientific works on sanctions, official legal acts of Russia, the EAEU and Western countries that imposed sanctions, publications in the media and official press releases of the competent authorities responsible for imposing sanctions, it was revealed that the sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries had an impact on its economy and foreign policy, leading to a change in the external economic situation and strategy of Russia's action in the international arena. This was the reason for changing its approach to the already formed by the time the EAEU. The contradiction between the changed conditions of foreign policy and foreign economic reality and the guidelines laid down in the process of formation of the EAEU institutions has led to the fact that it has become easier for Russia to pursue its policy outside supranational bodies. At the same time, Russia's actions caused conflicts and contradictions with other participants. The fundamental impossibility of compliance with the sanctions regime in the conditions of the EAEU and the importance that mutual sanctions have acquired due to the damage caused to the Russian economy, led to the fact that Russia decided to confront the Western countries alone. At the same time, being the largest economy of the EAEU, Russia by its actions led to the suspension of the integration process, which is impossible without its participation. Thus, it was found that the mutual sanctions of Russia and Western countries had a negative impact on the integration process within the Eurasian Economic Union
