The Federal State Statistics Service for the first time announced the share of small and medium-sized businesses in the Russian economy, which was catastrophically small and amounted to 21.9% by 2017. At the same time, the role of small and medium-sized businesses in developed countries is enormous: they create jobs, provide the population with income and predetermine the social and economic policy of the state. One of the global goals of economic development is to increase the share of small and medium-sized businesses in total GDP by 2024 by almost 2 times. However, this progress is impossible without an integrated approach to improving the success of the development of existing enterprises and only stimulating the creation of new companies. This article will explore the phenomenon of the success of small and medium businesses in Russia, the main difficulties of their development and possible solutions.
