The Relationship between Group Identity and Political Behaviour (the Case of Russian Parental Communities)

Civil society is weakening in Russia. Groups that continue to function successfully and recruit supporters attracts the attention of researchers. A striking example is the parent associations.

The paper analyzes how the identity and political behaviour of members of a special type of communities (parent associations) are related. 7 different network communities were studied with the help of frame analysis, the features of their frames of collective identity were highlighted. Also, based on the survey of community members, an attempt was made to find a mathematical relationship between the strength of identity (involvement in community) and the political behaviour of the participants of these associations.
