Today one of the main tasks of the state is to increase the average standard of living of the population by reducing the incidence of poverty and reducing the uneven distribution of wealth in society. The study of current trends and the identification of key features in the distribution of consumer spending is the key to solving this difficult task, since the cost structure is one of the most important indicators of the quality of life of a household. The purpose of this work is to analyze and model the structure of household consumer spending in modern Russia. This work consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusion, sources of literature and applications. The first chapter of this study highlights theoretical approaches to the study of consumer behavior of households: it examines the basic concepts, studies modern characteristics on the example of some Russian authors, and also examines various economic and econometric models and approaches that help determine factors influencing the formation of consumer choice. In the second chapter, the modern characteristics of consumer spending and their determinants are studied in detail, and regional indicators are analyzed and dynamic trends are identified, and a cluster analysis of regions is conducted depending on the cost structure existing in them. “Portraits” of main types of households with similar consumption patterns dismantled. In the third chapter several models of the influence of various economic, social and demographic indicators on the distribution of the share of food expenditures are built and the best of them is selected.
