Employee Engagement: Evidence from Russia

The aim of the research is to determine the nature of job characteristics of Generation Z in Russia. Data was collected from bachelor management students at a large university in Russia using Morgeson and Humphrey’s Work Design Questionnaire. Descriptive statistical methods were applied to rank top five job characteristics preferred by different groups of participants (e.g., demographics, work experience, and industry) and Kruskal–Wallis test was used to determine if there are statistically significant differences between job characteristics of mentioned groups of respondents. Cluster analysis was conducted to create four major profiles. The result of these tests have shown Generation Z vision of workplace. This research is unique in terms of examining Generation Z work preferences through work design perspective. These findings could help HR-departments and recruitment agencies attract and retain new workforce and facilitate employers understanding of Generation Z in the workplace.
