In the present work was made a research of the concept of empathy from the point of view of different directions of psychoanalytic currents. An attempt has been made to determine what empathy is and how it can be applied in the psychoanalytic process. Based on a clinical case, empathy has been demonstrated during psychoanalytic psychotherapy sessions.
