One of the most serious demographic problems nowadays is the large gender gap in life expectancy. This issue is relevant for almost all modern countries and is really important for the Russian Federation, since the gender gap in 2017 was more than 10 years. In this paper we conduct an interregional analysis of data on Russia in order to study the main socio-economic determinants of this indicator using various econometric tools: descriptive, graphical, correlation and regression analysis. Modelling of the regression equation is carried out in three ways: the linear equation by the method of least squares, the equation on panel data and the equation on spatial data. All regression equations were constructed for the four dependent variables: gender gap, life expectancy for the entire population, and separately for men and women. Four groups of factors were used as independent variables: economic, social, demographic and climatic factors. Information base of the study - data of the World Bank and Rosstat with the time interval from 1970 to 2017. Panel data were reviewed over the past three years. In conclusion, the main results are given.
