Purchasing Optimization at the Enterprise

Purchasing logistics is considered to be one of the most developing spheres in the world business. Decisions made by companies’ top management and closely related to purchasing activity are becoming more complex and considering many factors. Managers’ aim to carry out high-quality procurement activities is justified by the fact that it is the procurement savings that affect the most the final financial results of the company. Thus, if at the end of the last century procurement was a routine, “clerical” function, then now it becomes more strategic and contributes to the achievement of the organization’s corporate goals, requires special skills from the purchasing specialists. This paper goal is to develop proposals to improve theprocurement activitiy efficiency at the enterprise on the example of the Pulkovo Airport operating company Nothern Capital Gateway, LLC. The research provides new results by examining a previous experience of purchasing implementing in the company and identifying gaps in procurement approaches. As a result, a list of recommendations proposed in this paper can be used by purchasing departments and can be applied in future practice.
