Institutionalization of Anti-Doping Control Practices in the International Sport of High Achievements

The thesis is devoted to the study of anti-doping control practices in the international sport of high achievements. Based on the analysis of the institutionalization of doping control in modern sports, the isomorphic mechanisms underlying it were identified. Also the analysis of the private aspects of anti – doping control determined by functioning of these mechanisms, such as activity of agents of the power within the developed specific institutes of supervision and punishment in sports, and subjects of this power-athletes was given. On the basis of this analysis, the categorization of anti-doping control agents was carried out, which consists in dividing them into "tactics" and "strategists". In the course of the semi-formalized focused interview study (N=18 athletes), the information on the actual existing practices of doping control implemented by both groups of agents was obtained and analyzed.
