Social Responsibility of Business: Coverage and Promotion in Contemporary Mass Media

The social responsibility of business is getting significant attention worldwide and has prospects of expanding among business in developed countries. In recent years, Russian business has steadily got closer to international norms and standards. It is therefore important to estimate the current state of social responsibility in Russian business. One of the widespread channels covering this topic is mass media. In this paper we make an attempt to identify coverage and promotion of this topic in contemporary mass media. Using mass media data collected from “The central press of Russia”, we analyze the role of social responsibility in modern media discourse, looking at main discussion actors, their status, opinion, value judgments and position on this topic.
