This paper examines the evolution of the balancing policy of Uzbekistan between Russia and the United States from 1991 to 2018, covering the security policy and strategic depths of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy in Central Asia. Within the framework of the topic, the works of several authors were analyzed, depending on the problem field covered. So, while Professor F. Talipov draws attention to the problems associated with the confrontation between Moscow and Washington, which have a bad effect on the regional security of Central Asia, the expert Paramonov V.V. pays special attention to the historical perspective of relations between Uzbekistan and Russia in the field of security, which guarantee the preservation of the sovereignty of the country. Researcher Y. Sarukhanyan, in turn, sees great risks here, as close ties with only one center of forces constrain the ambitions and capabilities of Uzbekistan, and prevent the strengthening of cooperation with third forces. This work is aimed at analyzing the state of the current foreign policy of Uzbekistan and the measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to develop regional cooperation and economic interdependence for the stability of all regional regimes from collapse. The results of the work will help identify problems in the state foreign policy towards Central Asia and become a theoretical basis for future research
