Features of the Legal Protection of Sports Symbols

The purpose of this work is to identify the specifics of the legal protection of sports symbols in the Russian Federation and the top sports organizations of the world. The analysis of the sources of legal relations related to the protection from illegal use of sports symbols, the practice of resolving disputes with sports symbols, the formulation of proposals for amendments to the legislation.

The main objectives of this study are: 1. To propose an expanded definition of the concept of "sports symbols". 2. To analyze the activities of the IOC in relation to sports symbols. 3. Describe the sources of legal regulation of sports symbols. 4. To formulate the concept and content of such an institution as" ambush marketing", to give it a legal assessment. 5. To analyze the current practice on the legal protection of sports symbols, to identify patterns. 6. To present a position on the ethics of enhanced legal protection of sports symbols in relation to other subjects of business turnover.

On the basis of this work the following conclusions are made: first, in the domestic legislation the concept of sports symbols is too detailed, and the organizers of sports events receive from the state powerful legal support; secondly, the author presents his own version of the periodization of the history of labor relations of athletes; third, the structure of sources of regulation of sports symbols; fourth, considered such a phenomenon as ambush marketing, will affect the ethical issue of giving the organizers of the competition enormous support from the state.
