The object of the study is the image of Latin American identity. The subject is Gabriel García Márquez's novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude”. The purpose of the study is to reveal particular features of the Latin American identity in the Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel «One hundred years of solitude». To achieve this goal the following tasks are required: - to investigate the issue of the national identity; - to explain the concept of the cultural identity; - to understand the basic theoretical information about Latin American identity; - to study the problem of cultural identity of the Latin American world; - to characterize the cultural heritage as a factor of preservation of Latin American cultural and civilizational identity - to analyze the Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel «One Hundred years of solitude» and determine its originality; -to explore the image of Latin American identity depicted by Marquez in the novel. In the thesis were used such methods of information processing as: analysis, synthesis, study of well-known literature, the study of the works of other authors, comparative methods. The structure of the work is determined by the purpose and objectives of the study and includes: introduction, three chapters, conclusion and 26 references. The work includes 47 pages. The results of this study can be used by teachers and students in the study of such subjects as cultural studies and literature.
