Abstract to the senior thesis on the theme "Stylistic and pragmatic features of the headlines of popular science texts (on the material of the French press)" The newspaper is a “mirror” reflecting the events of public life. Effective perception of newspaper publications is largely determined by the headline, which briefly informs about the main topics that can be found in the article. Headline in newspapers is an integral and important element that performs various language functions. The purpose of the work is to analyze the stylistic and pragmatic features of the French popular science newspaper headlines. The research materials are French newspaper headlines of popular science journals such as Science & Vie, La Recherche and Les grands dossiers des sciences humaines for 2018-2019. In this thesis, we used such research methods as: the method of continuous sampling, the method of stylistic analysis of the text and the method of pragmalinguistic analysis. In this study, pragmalinguistic features of the headlines were analyzed based on paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations, extralinguistic and intra-linguistic features of the French language. The study shows the relationship between semantics (the lexical meaning of words), syntax (grammatical structures) and pragmatics (the reaction of addressees to the information described in this type of text). In particular, the author of the article should take into account the structural features of the source text, pay special attention to cultural differences and attitudes, try to adequately express their intention in the article. The results of the study show that the purpose of the newspaper style is to transmit information and the simultaneous impact on the reader, the prompting of the addressee to take special actions. Keywords: newspaper headlines, stylistic features, pragmatics, French press.
