The present study is intended to cover the major issues pertaining to the features of application of the lean manufacturing principles with a view to optimize the company's production processes. The principles of lean manufacturing, which have become the hallmark of the Toyota Production System, have gained wide acceptance throughout the world since they were developed several decades ago. Despite the steadily growing popularity and apparent versatility of lean production approach, its implementation requires preliminary adaptation in accordance with the peculiarities of the existing production system of the company. The general purpose of this project is to reveal the technique for application of lean manufacturing tools in order to optimize the business process of production of hydroprotection for submersible electric motors at Novomet-Perm. During the analysis of the current state of the company's production process and development of a set of measures for its improvement, traditional methods of identifying and eliminating losses will be applied in combination with semi-structured interviews with personnel involved in the production process. As a result of the study, key types of losses were identified and systematizedand a plan of measures to eliminate them by 2020 was designed. In future it seems possible to continue the study on the example of other companies’ business processes in a similar field and to form the idea of the adaptation of lean manufacturing concept in more detail.
