This case study of “Gogol-Center” and Kirill Serebrennikov traces the most complicated and significant moment of this theatre`s history - the time when theater functions while its leader stands trial and gets released from house arrest. The main goal of this research is highlighting all particular qualities of “Gogol-Center” - the theatre, that appeared in Moscow in a time of theatrical crisis and which has the biggest online and offline audience among contemporary theatres of the city. Political positioning, self-representation in internet, homelike team and precise esthetics help this theatre to combine commercial success and ideological independence.
