This paper discusses the street-road network (hereinafter - UDS) of the city of Moscow. In the course of the study, the share of the built-up area of the city is calculated, given under the UDS in relation to automobilization by administrative districts within the boundaries of the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD). An assessment is made of the possibility of reducing the load on the road network, increasing its coherence in general and the variety of choices at the local level in particular, due to the change in the status of a number of inter-town passages to local streets for areas with the lowest levels of traffic with respect to the entire city. As a result, it is shown how the structure of the network changes, quantitative estimates of the increase in the share of streets and roads are given. According to the results of the study, we conclude that although such modifications do not have a strong effect on the provision of square meters of roadway at the district level, they are comparable in terms of growth with the construction of large trunk links. In turn, transformations at the local — district level — make it possible to assess the increase in choice for users of individual transport in the context of the growing diversity of the local network. In addition, a comparison is made of Moscow before and after the proposed changes according to enlarged quantitative estimates, both among themselves and with other cities of the world.
